CINEMALAYA OPENING NIGHT.
I went to Cultural Center of the Philippines yesterday to attend the opening night of the 8th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival. For the record, there were a lot of people. There were actors and directors present, too.

Babae sa Breakwater, a film by the late Mario O’Hara, opens the eight installment of the festival.
The festival, which also serves as a competition for both new and established directors and film makers, has the categories of New Breed full length feature and the Short feature for new directors while the Directors’ Showcase category is for the established directors of the local film industry.

Prominent director and actress, Laurice Guillen, was present at the Festival’s opening night.

The festival will run from July 20 to 29. For more information about screening dates and schedules, visit Cinemalaya’s website here.
